coming by train
If you’re coming from Washington DC, Philadelphia, New York City, New Haven, Hartford, Brattleboro, Montpelier, Burlington: take the Amtrak Vermonter train! The Northampton, MA Amtrak Train Station is only 20ish minutes from Atland. An uber/lyft can get you to Atland, or coordinate with us to pick you up/drop you off.
coming by car
The nearest gas stations are 15-20 minutes away, so please fill up before arriving! Cumberland Farms in Williamsburg, MA is east of us and the closest at 15 minutes. If you’re coming from the West then we recommend filling up at Friendly Fred’s in Windsor (20 minutes), but they close at 5pm. If you’re coming from the North, there’s an Exxon in Ashfield, MA (20 minutes).
From NYC / Upstate NY / Philadelphia driving to Atland: Your GPS might try to take you through Hartford, but we highly recommend adding “Pittsfield” or “Ghent/Chatham, NY” as a stop so that you end up taking the Taconic and going through Worthington, MA for a more beautiful route. It's much prettier, trust us :) We’re located on Rt. 143/Main Road in Chesterfield… look out for the 702 road marker, and take the driveway up to the top and you’ll see the main house.
From Boston to Atland: Take MA-2 W… if you add “Millers Falls, MA” as a stop on your route, it’ll take you through this northern more scenic route. You can avoid the big highways and semis. We recommend avoid taking the I-90 W route.
Basic directions from Northampton/Hartford/Springfield to Atland: Take Rt. 91 NORTH to Massachusetts Exit 25 (old Exit 19) - Head straight onto Damon Road, following signs for Rt. 9 WEST - Continue straight onto Bridge Road and follow until it ends at a traffic circle / intersection Rt. 9 - Take the first exit off the traffic circle onto Rt. 9 WEST - Travel ~5 miles to Williamsburg town center.
Once you pass through Williamsburg, turn left onto Rt. 143, which is Main Road. You'll then see the "Entering Chesterfield" sign and the Town Hall will be on your left at North Road. If you keep going on Rt. 143/Main Road, the entrance to Atland (702 Main Road) will be on your right after you pass Westfield River and Ireland Street.
coming by plane
The closest airport to fly into is Bradley International Airport in Hartford, Connecticut (50 min away). It’s very small and easy to get around, security is quick to get through as well. The second closest airport is Albany, NY (1.5 hrs away). An uber/lyft can get you to Atland from Hartford. Or coordinate with us to pick you up or drop you off in Northampton (from where you can easily get an Uber).
